New Delhi: Bloomsbury India has decided to publish the next edition of Wisden India Almanack in October 2019, at the start of the Indian season.
Loved by the connoisseurs of cricket world over for its nuanced analysis and balanced approach, the seventh edition of Wisden India Almanack will have a wider range of essays, more details and statistics both domestic and international, the World Cup stories in full and our regular sections.
While commenting on this strategic shift, Rajiv Beri of Bloomsbury India (the publishers of the Almanack) quoted, “This will enable us to capture the previous season in full and enhance our standing as the sole publication to contain all the details. Future editions will be launched in October every year”.
“It will also, in our next edition, enable us to carry the details of the 2019 World Cup (50-over) in England, the Women’s World T20 in the West Indies and the IPL in the same cycle in which they are played,” said Suresh Menon, Editor, Wisden India Almanack. “Launching in January, as we have done till now, had its compulsions in the initial years, but this gives us the opportunity to carry the details of the completed season.”
Wisden India Almanack, the India-focussed version of the 155-year-old UK Wisden sometimes referred to as the ‘Bible of cricket’, is six editions old. The seventh will be launched in October 2019. At the launch of the first edition, Virat Kohli had remarked, “To feature on the cover of Wisden India Almanack is an honour.” He has been on the cover twice.
“The quality of the writing and the subjects covered maintain the high standards expected of the Wisden brand,” says Greg Chappell of the Wisden India Almanack.
