Simon & Schuster India ties up with Yoda Press

New Delhi: Leveraging the collaborative strengths of two unique lists, Simon & Schuster India will publish splendid graphic books, fiction and trade non-fiction titles, which will tell edgy memorable stories with political and emotional heft.
The first two books of the joint venture between Simon & Schuster India and Yoda Press will be published in the course of this year – a unique graphic book on Bhagat Singh’s life, and a translation from Hindi of the popular novel, Bhairavi by Shivani (also a Padma Shri awardee for her contribution to Hindi literature in 1982).
“I am really excited about this new joint imprint we are inaugurating with S&S India. Solid collaborations have been our greatest strength at Yoda Press, and we feel certain that we are at the start of another one. The idea is to leverage the unique vigour of each of these two dynamic houses to create a sparkling list of books. The first one on the cards is a graphic biography of Bhagat Singh by Ikroop Sandhu, called Azaadi. What’s not to love! What’s not to look forward to,” said Arpita Das of Yoda Press.
Commenting on the venture, Himanjali Sankar of Simon & Schuster India said: “Yoda Press has a unique and select list of titles which we’ve admired from afar for long! We are delighted to now have the opportunity to collaborate with Yoda and very much look forward to publishing beautiful, meaningful books under our joint imprint.”

About Yoda Press:
Founded in 2004 with an alternative publishing vision, Yoda Press aims to create lists around subjects which are not usually a priority for other publishers in India, even though they have a critical presence in contemporary discourse, authorship and an audience. Yoda Press is known for publishing on subjects such as sexuality, popular culture, cities and urbanism, architecture as a lived experience, and new perspectives in Indian history and sociology. Our LGBT list and Sexualities series have been the preferred home for cutting-edge writing in alternative sexuality since 2005. In August 2015, we initiated a joint imprint with Sage Publications for our academic titles, SAGE-YODA PRESS. Yoda Press launched its Fiction list in December 2016. Yoda Press was the Winner of the Publishing Next Publisher of the Year Award 2016.
