New Delhi: Penguin Random House India announced Kitab Khana as the best retail partner to host The Penguin Classics Festival, organised in November 2018. Starmark in South City Mall Kolkata came a close second.
The Penguin Classics Festival was a month-long sensory delight for book lovers and reading enthusiasts, spread across five cities at prominent bookstores. The festival brought a range of extraordinary Classics by Penguin under one roof, giving people a rare chance to explore the largest selection of Classics for adults and young readers.
The bookstores that came on board as hosts to the festival were- Full Circle stores in Khan Market, Greater Kailash 1 and Nizamuddin in Delhi; Kitab Khana from Mumbai; Blossom Book House on MG Road, Bangalore; and select Starmark stores in Chennai and Kolkata. These retail partners played an integral role in bringing the festival to the consumers with the most exceptional efforts in marketing, customer engagements and store ambience, bringing the charm of Penguin Classics to life, almost. As part of the festival, these bookstores were in the running to be selected as the best bookstore for The Penguin Classics Festival.
Henry Eliot, Creative Editor at Penguin Classics and the official spokesperson for The Penguin Classics Festival, evaluated all participating retail stores basis the space allocation, in-store ambience, and marketing & customer engagement initiatives. ‘The enthusiasm across the bookstores was commendable,’ said Henry. ‘This was not an easy decision but in the spirit of competition, we had to pick one. The presentation, consumer interactions, book sales at Kitab Khana were noteworthy and I would like to congratulate them for their great participation and performance.
